We started to visit the Meenakshi Amman temple in Madurai, Tamilnadu. Since I always prefer to visit Narayana (Lord krishna) temple, my family took me first to the Narayana Temple in Thadi kombu on the way to Madurai.

After visiting the Narayana Temple we went to Madurai Meenakshi Amman temple... It is a historic Hindu temple located in the holy city of Madurai, Tamil Nadu.
The temple forms the heart and lifeline of the 2500 year old city of Madurai. This temple has a stunning architecture and a significant testimony for dravidians for their master architecture in sculpting this temple.
The temple walls, streets and finally the city walls (ancient) were built around the temple in concentric squares. Ancient Tamil classics mention that the temple was the center of the city and the streets happened to be radiating out like the lotus and its petals.
It is one of the few temples in Tamil Nadu to have four entrances facing four directions.
Here comes the four entrances at four directions...

I am stunned by your ability to describe things from an outsider's perspective. Really great description. You have good knowledge of your culture. I am really astonished to know about Madurai and its temples. Thanks for taking for the trip in pictures.
